Mick Birchall

Mick is a 44 year old Detective Inspector with Cambridgeshire Police and a keen river rower. He lives in Oundle, East Northamptonshire with his wife and 3 teenage children.

Mick divides his free time between his two sporting passions – rowing and rugby. He plays for Oundle Rugby Club Veterans and coaches the club’s U15 team. His is also an active member of Oundle Town Rowing Club and is the child welfare officer for both clubs.

His toughest challenge to date has been the Five Peaks Challenge (climbing the highest peaks in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland within 48 hours). He sees the Atlantic Rowing Race as the ultimate test of physical and mental endurance and the perfect opportunity to raise money for his chosen charities.
