Lia Ditton

Lia is a 29 year old professional sailor and artist who has completed 12 ocean crossings, 3 racing solo plus other races and deliveries spanning some 75,000 miles. In 2006 she decided to enter the Barcelona World Race and took a break from the world of competitive solo sailing in order to gain as much experience as possible on 60ft – 105ft multihulls crewed by some of the best sailors in the world.

Lia is using the 2009 Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race as endurance training for the Barcelona World Race 2010. Both races will involve up to 3 months at sea in cramped quarters with only one other person. Rowing 2hrs on, 2hrs off for the duration of the Atlantic Rowing Race will ensure Lia is physically and mentally prepared for everything the Barcelona World Race might entail.
